FAQ
-
How much is a consultation?
Morfitt Family Law offers free 30-minute phone, Zoom/Google Meet, or in-person consultations with an attorney.
-
What should I bring with me to a consultation?
Nothing is required. If you have paperwork you want the attorney to review, please bring that with you or email to office@morfittfamily.com prior to your consultation.
Ms. Morfitt recommends attempting marriage counseling prior to a consult for divorce or dissolution of a CIR.
-
Can I handle my case without an attorney?
Washington State allows you to represent yourself. If your case is agreed, not high asset or high debt, and does not involve children, you may want to file on your own. We recommend you have a free 30-minute consult with Morfitt Family Law first and consider the legal costs versus stress costs to you before filing on your own.
-
What’s the best way to communicate with your attorney?
Email your attorney and paralegal (CC both!) for the fastest service.
-
Do you offer mediation services?
Not at this time. We do provide advocacy during mediation. Your attorney and paralegal will prepare your materials for mediation, and the attorney will attend private mediation with you. Private mediation with an attorney advocating for you is the most successful at fully settling cases and avoiding trial.

How do I dress for Court?
Morfitt Family Law recommends you dress professionally, such as business casual, whether for a Zoom or in-person hearing. A 3-piece suit is too formal, and a tank top or ratty t-shirt is too casual. Think modest, conservative dress like for church or work interview—collared shirts, dress pants, mock turtleneck or sweater, and high-neck dresses. Remove excessive piercings or cover tattoos, and a natural hair color is best. The courts are a traditional environment where you show respect by dressing according to the industry standards.
